    Llams not working properly

Installed my Llams today but seemed to run into problems... I have calibrated it three times but am getting a suspension fault "Normal Height only available" or words to that effect. Anyone got any clues?

Most likely a connector isn't pressed fully home at the suspension ecu, which includes the 2 centre ones that are left untouched. Both ends of the connectors, especially the large one, need to be pressed home at the same time.

Good to hear that it was just a connector not quite home and its now working.

Yes, all is well, have used it a number of times today and not a problem.

Thanks for your support Graeme, you were very quick to respond.

I'll put a pic up of the switch installation as soon as I can get my camera software to work

Smile First outing with Llams fitted

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/members/wy...anangatta.html

I took the D3 up to Wanangatta via Eaglevale on the weekend with the Llams fitted recently.
The extra height works fantastic for creek crossings particularly where there are boulders under the water.
Its also good for going over those "woopdy doos", or humps on the tracks where it is otherwise prone to scraping on the bottom.
It gave me more clearance that my mates' Prado and Patrol (with pumped airbags in the coils), but not as much as a lifted old Hilux with oversize tyres.
I don't think there is any need to upsize the tyres now and will stay with the standard 17" tyre diameter.
Its good to be able to go on a trip and not ding the exhausts or scrape the fuel tank.

The "Suspension fault" light came on a few times, which I ignored as it made no difference and went away after the next engine restart.
The lowering feature is pretty handy as well. I used it when we were stopped at the campsite for better access to the roofrack and for my wife to get in and our easily.
All up, I am pretty happy with it, as I can be on or offroad without having to make any physical changes to the vehicle or tyres.

Did the faults occur whilst in off-road mode and +50 combined with lots of articulation or did they occur under more normal circumstances? Whilst I haven't heard of faults with off-road & +50, I've always suspected they could occur if a shock becomes fully extended yet the ecu thinks there should still be some more height available, perhaps moreso with the vehicle stationery for more than just a few seconds when actual height values replace average height values.

The fault came on (and stayed on until I restarted again) a few times after switching on the +50mm while on tracks while fully extended before using much articulation. Travelling at 0-20klms/hr. It did not seem to do anything to the ride, and did not come on again after turning the +50mm off.
So, I ignored it and unless you think its an issue I don't mind if its just a glitch.

I've got the GOE rods, and when in offroad height (using them +45), I some

times get the orange light suspension fault, makes no difference to anything

and goes off on restart, logs no fault codes.

Seems to do it when one wheel extends, so not only LLAMS system.

    Cheers Ken

My suspension light has been coming on as well, "Normal height only", goes when I restart but was coming on very quickly again.
I then reseated the plugs to the ECU and so far seems to be OK.
The wires that are affected are the front crosslink valve and the front RH corner valve if that is of any use to you Graeme.

Thanks Richard - your's will be a connection problem. The wires for the front RH sensor and cross-link valve are in the larger grey connectors and all 4 are towards the long end from the off-centre clip. Its quite a long connector considering the short distance the pins engage with the sockets so the plug might be able to move enough to occasionally loose contact. I wonder about the possibility of the Llams module pulling on the connector if the module is just floating around so I have started including a strip of stick-on velcro so that the module can be restrained, just in case.

The other occasional faults are hard to prevent, especially as it has been reported these can occur even without Llams or shorter rods in extreme circumstances. Llams tries to cut-out the extra height at very high and low sensor signal voltage levels but is not going to work all the time because front and rear sensors use different increments for the same height adjustment - 1 rule isn't going to be perfect.

Correction: The 2 front cross-link valve wires are at the long end but the 3 RF sensor wires are at the other end and in the other row of pins. This suggests that the whole connector had worked loose.
