    Child Seat Anchors- Defender 110

    Hi All

Miraculously I have convinced my wife that a 110 Defender would make a great family car! This was no easy task, but she drove it yesterday and loved it, I think the fact it had air con won her over!?!

Have found what looks like a great find. Late 300tdi, service history from someone I know, soft mods and ready to roll.

Problem is on inspection couldn't locate any anchor points for Child seats!!! This could be the deal breaker for us with a 5 year old and a 13 month old baby.

We live in the police state of Victoria and must get a pull every second week, got pulled onto a weighbridge with my 4.30m tinny last week!!! And had 4 breath tests over Christmas!! So need to be safe and legal.

What is the best, cheapest and safest way to get this sorted, I have looked through the forum but need definitive answer. If anyone knows where I can get this done that would be great.

    Regards

    CB

Check in The Good Oil for this thread -
    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/good-oil/5...-creb-bar.html

    Or just click through.

On a 110 (pre Puma) it's reasonably straightforward, go to an approved fitting station, get them to fit a CRAB bar. Cost should be $250-$350.

A CRAB bar is a standard restraint anchor point solution that is used on a bunch of different makes and models, so already engineer approved as a solution.

Defenders are classed with utes as a non-passenger vehicle, so aren't obliged to come standard with restraints, and don't.

This is what I have on my 110

Which is bar that goes across the back and the kid seats clip onto. I was lucky and my 110 came with it. Which was handy as we had a 6 month old at the time. Now we have a 2.5 year old and and a year old and still using it every day , but have heard they are fitted for a cost of a few hundred $.

But I am the same as you my misses now loves the 110 ( she never did like the disco we had before ). After all it is her daily car

    Child restraint anchor

I remember a work colleague with a child seat issue bcak in 1998. He had a post installed behid the rear seat....and I always though it a crude waste of space.

I reckon Reads90 is a very good solution, especially the goods barrier!!

    Good luck with the wagon.

Child Anchor Point for Defender 110 Result

Before I purchased my Defender did some research on this as need to fit child seats into the 110. Lots of mentions of CRAB bars that fit behind the seats however even the salesmen I spoke to admitted these took up loads of leg room for anyone sitting in the 2 rear seats of a 7 seater.

Found a post (First Drive of Defender + Child seats) that mentioned Comptune Engineering in NSW.
Booked up and just had fitted today 3 anchor points that fit on the back of the seats (just like in the photos on the above mentioned post). The engineers at Comptune strengthen the seats at not cost to comfort or functionality. Really good job and there is a Land Rover dealer opposite them that reckons they worked with Comptune to come up with a solution to this problem. Really recommend them even though a bit out of Sydney (they are in Narellan) - very friendly service, excellent job and no loss of leg room.

NB when I spoke to them and the Land Rover dealer prior to booking in they did say they haven't worked out a similar solution of the rear fold down seats as they are not locked in as well as the middle row (so this solution won't work for all the seats in a 110 nor the rear seats in a 90).
