Just had a look at the GM Performance Parts web site. That version of the LSX454 is not on there yet. You can get a slightly lesser version, 590 hp, or a re-issue of the legendary all aluminium ZL1 427 whose output is carefully not stated.

Barrett-Jackson 2011: GM auctions off first LSX454R crate engine

General Motors LSX454R crate engine at Barrett-Jackson – Click above for high-res image gallery
It's not just cars and trucks that are auctioned off each and every year at Barrett-Jackson. For instance, General Motors decided to roll out its latest crate engine, the LSX454R, in front of the crowds in Scottsdale, and proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association.
Of course, this is no ordinary motor. In fact, at 750 horsepower, the LSX454R is the most powerful engine General Motors has ever offered for sale... and that includes all the barn-storming engines of the Gods the automaker let out in the heyday of the muscle car era.
The 13:1 compression ratio of this engine means it's meant for racing applications and 110-octane fuel, so don't go getting any ideas of the LSX454R under the hood of a shiny new Camaro. Instead, expect to see it occupying the engine bays of 9-second bracket racers at a quarter-mile near you in no time flat.
Check out the official auction listing here, and head on over to Speed to watch live streaming coverage of all the festivities.

It is on the web site just under a slightly different name, LSX 720 for 720 hp. Pure racing engine, requiring 110 octane fuel. Probably LL110 Avgas.
They used to sell, in the 80's two earlier versions of a high performance 454, then called the LS6 & LS7. The LS7 was noted as a pure racing engine that required regular teardown and inspection, and "high octane racing gasoline". The LS6 would have been a formidable street engine.

I think I need a cold shower.![]()
Actually, the LS9 is my dream motor, but its back at about 650hp or similar. The motor above... burnouts just by dropping the clutch, then give it some!![]()

just thinking aloud here,,
they obviously only intend to run that engine at full noise,, no injection.
but why a single carby? (even though its two foot tall)

The one supplied flows more than enough to feed that engine. Look at the manifold design. The carb is just a mixing valve and supply to the cylinders is from the plenum. Also there may well be class rules in drag racing requiring carburettors.Multi four barrel carburettors on big high performance V8's is pretty old hat & little seen since the 70's except on show cars and street rods. I had a much modified 350 in a HT Monaro in 1971 with two Carters, and, later, had a 1970 Dodge Challenger Hemi 426 with two BIG Carters. This was a Mopar after-market drag race spec. engine. I changed the manifold to use a modified single Quadrajet which produced better road manners and better performance and response in all situations except off the line. As I didn't drag race (except informally at traffic lights) this was of no account to me.

Have a look at E-ROD LS3 | Hot Rod with Crate Engine | GM Performance Parts and also Performance. To get the big picture, download & save the catalogues, particularly the Mopar one as their web site doesn't show much. The catalogues boggle the mind..
Warning-these are big downloads.
