    name this part......?????who can???

    di 94 es v8

    is this a spiral cassette? mines now broken (long story)

    where can i get one any ideas how much??

    There are two series 1 Disco's being wrecked that are in the markets section ( the panel at the top of this page).

    looks like a slip ring for the steering column

    It's the Rotary Coupler aka the spiral cassette. It's expensive. The part no. depends upon VIN and whether your car has airbags.

    Never, ever, leave your steering unlocked when you disconnect the steering column - unless of course, you want to destroy the cassette.

    Always remove the key from the ignition and ensure the wheel is locked.

    it goes behind the steering wheel and allows electrical connections to be made throughout the rotation of the steering wheel.


    that one looks like it is only for the wheel mounted horn buttons OR the single system radio control.

    That one is for a V8 ES7 Dave; Horn, cruise control and SRS.

    Series1 Disco with air bags, Series2 Disco V8 or TD5 and P38 Range Rover all use the same part. There have been changes in the part numbers over the years. They all have capability of Air bag, horn, cruise control and radio control signals.

    Easily damaged either when removing the steering wheel too quickly or when re-fitting in the incorrect position

    Hi Erich, are they all interchangeable? I was sure the D2 ones look different Haven't sat them next to each other though....

    I've only ever had to replace one.. Didnt realise they were the same....

    Ya dont find that stuff in the shed classes.
