What needs doing?
Anyone know a decent mechanic Brisbane Bayside or south of the Gateway that knows Defenders? MR a little too far away for me at Cleveland

Nothing at the moment. However I have just developed a little whine / whir thing after putting it in for a service at my normal mechanic yesterday. Sounds like a turbo bearing perhaps. About 2500rpm or when I put my foot down hard. Not a loud noise, but enough to notice. Only comes on for a second or two then disappears.
Not sure if they disturbed something when they serviced it?
Ipswich a bit far away for me though mate
if its a td5 then its the centrifuge filter.

It's a 200TDI. Can you think of anything they may have touched or disturbed doing a general service?
Could it be a different type of oil they used? It had Caltex Delo 400 in it and I think they use Penrite.
My motor bike mechanic reckoned he wouldn't throw Penrite on an ants nest :-(
check the heat shield for the turbo/exhaust manifold, sometimes they'll act as a nice sounding board for the turbo when it winds up. If they changed the air filter it may just be a change in the induction pressure letting the turbo work a bit harder.

Have not used them as I fix my own cars but they do specialise in land rover and other British cars
But as for the turbo there can be a few reasons. As already said with the turbo cover. Have ended up taking them off before as they become more of a pain than use
The other is a split in the turbo hose but will have noticed a bit of loss in power.
The other is the bearings in the turbo going and hence the trubo on the way out. If it is this it will get louder and louder and best to stop using it
I will have a look if you want, I am only round the corner from you

Thanks Ali. I have a Rover 75 which I have taken to Tunstalls a couple of times. Really nice bloke but they know how to charge! I think it cost me $700 for a basic service. I'm just off South street down near the water. Should be home most of tomorrow. My number is 0419 758238
