Climate Control Sunlight Sensor - Auto Headlight Sensor

Two newbie type questions for the RRS/D3.

    1. I assume the little dome next to the subwoofer on the dash is the sunlight sensor for the climate control. Yes/No? If it is, I have a dash cover which covers over the sensor and a friend said that the climate control will not be turning itself up and down with exposure to sunlight. Ie - turns itself down when there is no sunlight (heat) coming into the car and likewise turns itself up when there is heat from the sun (is in addition to temp sensors).

So is this correct and if so do I need to cut a small hole in the dash cover to let the sunlight in? The climate control does seem to work OK with the dah cover in place.

    2. I also assume the sensor for the auto on for the headlamps is the sensor I can see in the headlights. I also assume there is some other triggering sensor somewhere. The reason I ask is that on occasion the lights have not come on until really dark yet on the weekend I was driving directly into the sun just before sunset and the lights stayed on even though the headlight sensor had a direct line to a very bright setting sun.

Can someone enlighten me on the magic of these things.

Oh - the wipers come on even when a big bug gets smashed on the windscreen - where is the sensor for detecting squashed bugs.

    Cheers

    Ok - thanks for that.

So what is the square fitting on top of the dash (up near the windscreen) with the little bubble on one corner (it is this that I assumed was the sunlight sensor).

Looking at the rear view mirror from the outside there is a small square sensor - is this for the mirror itself (to tell it when it is dark) or is this foir the lights? What is the small bulb in each of the front parking lights - next to the light bulb is a bulb that looks like a sensor.

    Cheers

Isn't that's the door key sensor ? It's on the left side
on many marques as is the mechanical door lock option , for the US and European markets ( where the sales are ......... ).

I wouldn't have thought so - but what do I know - hence my dumb questions.

It would seem though a lot of people are in a similar boat though.

I think it is the door sensor, as in doors open, security off! (on the dash).

Have driven a Sierra in the UK and Jags and I'm certain they had a similar set up.

Just had a dumb ass idea and tried to cover it....but it's RF, so short of a lead cover, that won't work....

I guess the grill is for a speaker if you bought the 16 speaker system....maybe.....

Which door is the Sub-woofer in Stig, the hatches or one of the passenger doors?

    Cheers,

    Kev.

LOL, here we go,, the lil dome thingy on the panel at the center dash is the sun sens, the 2 domes eather side in your headlights is just a dumy as you dont have HID with cornering lights,

the sub is in the rear boot door its self, (on the l.h.s if you realy wanted to no), you only get that on the logic7 and harrmen kardon sound sys,,,

oh and the centul locking is mounted in the middle of the head lining bolted to the roof,

what i forget, oh the rear mirror dip is a tiny lil sensor in the middle of the mirror, anything elce

Actually Stig.....another Q...I have the logic 7.....where are all of the 9 speakers located? Some are obvious in doors etc, but they don't add up to 9. Now I know where the sub is...thanks.

Are the speakers on the door pillars for the phone only or are they part of the system....conversely, does the phone use all the speakers when activated?

    Thanks mate. Appreciate it.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

    Maybe it was only 6...?

Thanks Stiggy - I have my etag mounted just in front of the front sensor of the rear vision mirror but doesn't seem to cause any issues.

What you haven't answered yet is where is the water sensor for the wipers?

I have the standard 6 stacker audio system but it does have a sub woofer setting so I assumed there was one somewhere.

So the dash sensor is the sunlight sensor for the climate control? and the front square sensor on the rear vision mirror is for the headlights??
