    Last year at the QLD Defender day out I was the lucky one that won the $250 MR Automotive voucher. I tried to give it to a needy soul but it was not accepted. Today I finally got there and have had some snazzy recovery points fitted. Being a SVX they had to modify the bash plate and drill a hole in the chassis where every other Defender already has a hole. Nothing is straight forward on that vehicle.

    I bought the shackles from ARB. Enquired about a bridle after what I have read on here, they reckon not necessary. If being yanked out by chain, then yes it may twist the chassis. But if being snatched the strap will absorb the energy and quite safe.

    well done, looks the good now.

    Is a bridle the same as a equaliser strap?
    I have a 1500mm stap that attaches to the shackles which basically centralises the pull. Makes sense for me and there not expansive.

    It's interesting that many people seem to think that you must have a central pull point when recovering a vehicle or you will do damage.
    I have been involved in the 4wd movement & clubs for over 30 years, & I have never heard of anyone twisting their chassis from snatching or winching! (& chains should not be used for "yanking")

    Each to their own, but I feel this story was started by the equaliser strap makers!

    Was the top hole there for straightforward mounting? They showed me another puma with two holes, all nice and easy, and then mine. Only one hole. I thought the only difference between a SVX and normal 110 was cosmetic differences. Not so apparently.

    Yeah but fred don't get worried, the 130 doesn't have the ability to be jacked off the dumb irons as LR blanked the holes in the front and welded the rear ones in the crossmember, one can only assume that this was done because of too much stress on the chassis (jacking from these points), maybe they thought that they had done such a stirling job with the the bling they put on the svx that no one would ever want to put after market stuff on it
    Wrong again Land Rover??
