Reply With Quoteit might not be the water pump quality, if your other pulleys are not aligned properly due to bearing wear it could cause your pulley bearing/seal to go kaputt earlier.

chucked a new water pump in the defender about 18 monthes ago and its already kaput!.......kinda annoyed as the truck hasnt moved for the last 6 monthes due to me joining the army.

ring MR automotive and get a genuine one from them.
as already mentioned all the other pullys need to be in good order and a US thermoclutch or out of balance fan will also kill them.
