maybe they can change the name to
"X Non-Trail"
just when we thought there was no more future improvements in 4wds, nissan have come up with a bold new plan to improve their X-Trail.
i am sure it will improve fuel economy and not effect offroad driving ability in any way.
you be the judge .

I call them En-trails....
I'll tell you a quick story about an 07 version of the en trail - thanks Igloo2, that name suits them well - My Father in law bought one - and gave me the Rangie - good deal eh! He bought it as he thought the Rangie was too expensive to tow his small caravan around. After his first trip with it - about 2000km, he reported that when towing, the en trail had only mariginally better economy than the Rangie, and that it was aweful to tow with. He suggested that maybe he could get the Rangie back when he was going away again.... We'll see...

Oh the benefit of Hindsight.....
Way back in 1989 when I bought my first 4wd (GQ 4.2 normally aspirated diesel) we went on several trips with Pajero's. They were immensly popular at the time as a 'people mover' albeit with some off road cred.
I said at the time that I couldn't understand why they didn't make the Paj in a 2wd, leave out the front diff, transfer, etc etc. They would still be just as effective as a people mover without the extra weight and wear and tear of a full 4wd system. Still have the high driver position as well.
I should have gone to Mitsu and been paid a fortune. It surprises me that it's taken so long.
BTW, the Tojo Kluger is also available in 2wd.

So is a Triton, and a Rodeo. It's been going on for a while, 2wd hi clearance cars.
Even Ford had a crack with a Falcon ute, bit sad looking.
