Not an expert, but a fellow Freelander owner, if you are talking about the button in the car, check the fuses. If you are talking about the key Fob, check the Fob's battery????

What do you mean by the door lock is not going up - if you mean the knobs on the door - they do not protrude above the door trim when up.

Sorry it is not clear to me what the actual problem is - I assume the door remains locked when you try to open it with the remote key fob.

    door lock

only passenger door remains locked when either using the door locking/unlocking button inside or remote. its locked and neither using the handle unlocks it? does each door have a seperate fuse? perhaps the solenoid got wet with the recent rains we had. anyways how do i open a locked door??????

So the inside handle on the door will not unlock ie one pull on the inside door handle unlocks the door and the second pull opens the door - no electrics involved. If the door is not unlocking manually then there is a broken linkage inside - you will have to pull the door casing off and have a look see.

Garry thats right or its seized in the mechanism itsself!!!! I tried pulling the interior handle-ive taken it off and am pulling the cable actuating the opening of mechanism (its actually cable operated not solid link to mechanism) plus trying to kick the door open from inside but no go!!!
I also tried lifting the locking tab upwards at the same time but no go! i took the trim of the drivers door. when lifting the locking tab up and down you can feel that its attached to a locking mechannism. but the faulty doors tab kind of flaps up and down when operated manually. probably link there broken. awell perhaps tomorrow ill have to check it more carefully.
