As all ways when you chose to buy at the bottom end of the price range it`s pot luck. You hope that on a limited budget you can still get some thing decent. Well I mostly got decent. Seems that only for reasons that the previous owner knows of he put the wrong clutch in. Way to small. Will be getting the correct one Monday. Was a early range rover clutch that did not even suit the throw out bearing. It all worked, but not for as long as it should. Should be a Isuzu clutch that is bigger and will take the torque of the diesel. Could be some fitting issue to iron out, but should be doable. Been a few other joy of 2nd hand vehicle issues as well. Head bolts hand tight. Bung rear diff and other minor issues. Like I said mostly decent just that some things were not quite right. At least there is one positive, it does save me from buying another landy as a rebuild project. Not that I was expecting this one as the rebuild.

He probably went to a spare parts place (not a landy spares) and just asked for a clutch plate for a ??XX model Landrover 110 and the parts bloke didn't ask what type or the owner didn't tell them it was for an Isuzu 3.9 diesel,so he got supplied a V8 one

I new I was taking a bit of a gamble with this beast. It`s a mule as in a hybrid. Did come with a engineers certificate. Did get a bit scammed with the R.W.C. It had a N.S.W roadworthy check not a road worthy certificate. There checks are not as stringent as a road worthy ( understatement ). Had been a chassis up rebuild, only 6 years ago, with 50,000 ks done when I brought it. At the price I brought it I figured some repairs into the buy. Unfortunately it`s been a tad more than some repairs. Road test was back to Melbourne, not with out minor mechanical problems. Alternator passed away and the exhuast came loose. So from that first trip the standard was set and the ute has met it frequently for the last year and a bit. Hopefully soon I might get a week or two of good running.

There's a simple solution. Put it on the market. In my experience the moment you list it somewhere the car will come good.

Probably best to list it somewhere obscure and at a ridiculous price. I think I drove mine with only a new turbo hose and a cv joint for two years before I sold it. The first three years of owning it was more off the road than on, and not in a good way.
