    Defender lower door seals

Has anyone fitted the newer (post 2005) lower door seals to their Defender. If so is there any improvement in the seal? Or am I better off chasing down the older style P type seal that rivets to the body?
If anyone has the L style door mounted seal can they post a pic so I can see how they mount.
Pulled my old ones off today to put on new ones and went WTF. Took a bit of research to find they had changed.

We used a door seal out of a Series2 Disco and attached it to the inside of our sliders. This works a treat and seals better than original.

Pic showing the sliders, not difficult to make.

Thanks Erich, That is not a bad idea. I had also thought of sealing the gap completely, but I suppose that does not give anywhere for the water to run.
Do you still have the original seals in place as well?

If anyone has a pic of the post 2005 seals attached to the bottom of the doors it would be appreciated. Ta.

    Defenders have door seals?

The last time I drove a brand new 90, I could see the roadway through the gap at the front corner of the door.

Without them I can stand at my front door 5 metres from the car and see the back seats clearly through the gap.

Thanks Erich, has given me something to think about as an alternative. Have some old seals floating about so may be worth experimenting.

The reason is at least on mine the seal has curled up at the hinge side of the front doors...I think the L seals are a LR "that'll do solution".

At least they let the water out.

Oh very well then if I must

This is the driver's side front door.

They are pop rivetted at approximately 80mm centres:

This shot shows the curled up seal at the hinge edge of the door:

You can also see the compressable foam block at each end to "close" the gaps at the seals in the door pillars.

Are they better than the p seals? Probably not except for being less prone to damage from getting in and out of the vehicle.
