Someone told me - so I don't know if it's true - that the stretch of coast in that area has had more cyclones to deal with than anywhere else in Australia.

Be careful if you shelter at the TAFE as the staff might try and sign you up for something!
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.

I hope everything is OK for them up there..... We were supposed to Mob to KTA to go offshore on Monday but now it might be Thursday or Friday as all non essential's have been flown back to perth due to cyclone watch.

Poor bastards also copped a tornado type thingy yesterday....did a job on the all seasons apparently.

Amazing if a foul weather warning goes out in Perth everyone carries on regardless!
Here the place turns into a ghost town everyone holding out to see what the go is....I'm glad to say seemed a bit mild, which is good news as the tornado shut the place down yesterday.
The only victim today was the frangipani in the back garden shame as it is a mature tree

That is generally because even if a cyclone usually reaches Perth it is either a Cat 1 or drops to a low and does not do much damage. people in the NW have generally seen too many cyclones and the damage they do so dont take the chance.
Even the freak Tornados we get up here have cyclonic rated winds. Last one here a couple of weeks ago got up to 140kmph winds and was not expected. We were placed on standby on Monday at SES to assist Karratha if required.
