I was goig to check with Shannons.
Have also been told about Aussie 4wd Insurance DGA Insurance Brokers
anyone have any experience of them ?
Need help.
Check your insurance
I just did. Whe I insured my Defender, not quite 2 years ago, I was given a market value of $17K.
I checked today and they tell me that they'd go by Glass's guide. Since I don't have access they said use redbook.
They couldn't give me a "market value" over the phone for some reason, but when I asked if I could insure for an agreed value - they said that they would oly go "slightly" above market value for any vehicle.
They told me that the maximum AGREED value they would do for
a 1994/5 Defender 130 with canopy, ARB bar, Side bars, dual battery system, auxilliary fuel tank and spotlights would be $11,150-00 (not a typo).
We all know I'd have no hope of buying a similar vehicle for anywhere near that price.
This is with Suncorp. So again I urge you to check yours !
This leads me to the question ; Who has insurance that PROPERLY covers off road use and is affordbale / offers a realistic agreed value ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

try ryno. I have a 4wd policy with them with agree'd value, wasn't the cheapest insurance for me, but cheaper than most, and seems to offer more than most in the default basic package, and the most important thing was they said its a 4wd, so if you can drive it somewhere, then its insured there as well.
Just a suggestion.
Was with Allianz, wont ever go with them ever again, have not got a good word to say about them what so ever, bunch of crooks. Bet everyone else loves them.
Haven't ever had a claim in my life and hope it stays that way.

im with nrma
i have my 94 es v8 disco with arb side steps arb winch bar ,2 inch lift dual bat and spot lights
my agreed value of $8000 is max they would insure, i doubt i could replace the car and everything on/in it for that, but it is a 16 yr old car that i paid $2k for stock.
they cover everywhere that is legal to drive excluding comps/rally's etc
to every 1's surprise i have experienced good service with nrma, (during the floods in qld i have a total loss of my work car), my claim was finalised and payment received within 7 days of incident, with a pay out well above market value
Just had the same thing for a '95 Defender insured with TCIS 4WD insurance. Agreed value dropped from $16K to $12K this year. Despite the policy saying "agreed value", we cannot agree. They will also not accept an independent valuation. I also am wondering what to do next.

Do you know if Shannons cover off-road driving on non gazetted roads ?

Hate to say it, but that is about the redbook value and there are a couple on carsales around that price.
Suncorp have always been stingy with agreed value - they use to state "Agreed value of $XXXX or market value whichever is the lesser"
I recently switched from suncorp to shannons. DGA I found quite good.

Exclude the dealer vehicles and the redbook prices are about right. This is what suncorp are basing their valuation on.Originally Posted by carsales
