A Cynic might say "populist vote grabber that will never be fully implemented, but you might see 5-10 speed signs changed!"
Too much money in the kitty from the system.
Dave.
There is light at the end of the speed camera-filled tunnel.
SPEED camera "traps" will be eliminated and speed limits lifted on roads across NSW under a complete overhaul of traffic management planned by the Coalition.

Definitely a vote grabber, but mind you, I don't think they have to do too much to roll KK. If there is such thing as being handed an election on a silver platter, this one is it.
10 is fine in my book. The 80's back up to 90, the tons back up to 110. Some 50's back to 60...it's the ones that are all over the place like a mad woman's **** that I hope they target.
Yeah. Sure they will. They'll get right onto it as soon as they get elected. No more speed traps. Right there with 'There will be no carbon tax in a government I lead'.
Wouldn't get too excited... Vote grabbing and as the Welsh Witch has shown its all too easy to go back on election promises....![]()
The RTA will fight this tooth and nail.
I understand the guy in charge of speed limit setting has an agenda to lower limits further in metro areas to 40Kmh.
I would love it to happen, but when did you last see a speed limit raised.
Regards Philip A
perhaps they'll put a new bloke in charge of the RTA (Raising Transport Aggravation) !!
Saw this on SMH.
Increasing speed limits a serious mistake, say expertsProfessor Cameron said Victoria attempted to increase speed limits by 10km/h in 1987 which proved a disaster, with the state experiencing a 20 per cent increase in the injury rate, including fatalities, on rural freeways.
When the 100km/h limit was reintroduced, the rate decreased by 20 per cent, Professor Cameron said.
just to ask a question , what would the agreed speed limits be, in a school zone out front the old age home we will one day find each other or cruising through an area with little or no sign posting of residential road numbers or upcoming streets. 70 or 80 is fine if i have abs but does the vehicle behind me? and as the speed increases so does fuel use but it isnt getting cheaper, the number of vehicles per kilometer of roadway is increasing so how can i safely and economically drive faster?
