Exclamation Disco 3 Manual Clutch noise

Purchased second hand D3 2.7 diesel with 130km on clock, previous owner advised of grinding noise when clutch depressed. Melb City Landrover had diagnosed clutch release bearing issue. After installation of new clutch kit by MCLR noise was worse. After lenghty exploration they found the problem was actually the flywheel. It appears that flywheel on manual Landrover D3 will need to be replaced with each new clutch kit. Estimate Aus$3-4K

Seems a lot of money. You can pick up a genuine TDV6 flywheel in the Uk for £335 and the clutch kit for £293 but i guess the'll be a fair bit of labor involved etc

Not to bag the dealer but shouldn't they have known that a flywheel was required before they put the clutch kit in.

Also have a look at this page to see if your vehicle fits the info. http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic13325.html
