    China India china india china

    When will it ever stop?
Just bought the copy of Landrover owner international (Jan2011) and on page 11 to my HORROR Land Rover have announced that they are in negotiation to open a plant in China and India
Haven't we got enough with everything else made there without having to get Land Rovers made there as well!!!!
Well if that happens they better do a good job of it, and not cut corners
I wonder if the price will drop?

    Yeah I know that!
Just the same, would have been nice to know that they were still made in the UK.

The 110/130's have been made here, Brazil, South Africa and Turkey over the last thirty years.

There is every likelihood that a Defender made in India or China will be better built than the ones made in Solihull.

Assembling them in China makes a lot of sense since that is where most of the component parts are likely to be made, now and in the future.

I don't like the idea of something so old fashioned British and perfect (or the 110/130 used to be) for it's purpose being made in either of those places, but I suppose there can only be gains if the quality control actually does what it's supposed to do.
After all the things have a Ford engine in which could be made anywhere so what's the difference? Coolies in China or Pakis in England?
TATA are only after profit and bugger what a few enthusiasts think, after all I suspect commercial sales make up the bulk of sales.
