Need part id and function ( pics included) BEAUTUTEY???

I picked up my Es purchase from Tassie with sequential gas injection.
Runs ok it seems on gas, but having a snoop under the bonnet I found some wires that had been burnt from touching the exhaust manifold.
the gas system is a Zavoli Zeta.
the wired component in Pic 1, what is is, and function?
They obviously must serve some function purchase.
And I'm going to have to source that part



Pic 2 shows that someone previously had broken off the end of the thingo and tried to glue it back one as seen in pic3 where it had separated.

That's an easy one, its the temp sender to tell the gas ECU the coolant temp so it can change over. This is the same Zavoli unit I use, my wholesaler is just 20 mins drive away. PM me if you want their contacts or I can get you one when I go down there later this week.

I'm surprised the gas still works, the last time I busted a temp sensor the system shut down and had to have the error cleared (by laptop) after repairing it. Look closely at the blob on the end of the wires and see if the sensing element is still attatched, you may be able to just shove it back in the hole with some glue.

Well if it is all to do with the gas, lucky the wires didn't melt completely further down where they hit the hot manifold,. One thing I've seen some shoddy installs, but mine has some polypropelene string tying the convoluted harnesses covering , they must have been hard up on cable ties.

Cold sensor = no gas at all, error or too cold to operate. We are talking only 30C minimum, so its not a lot. There is another temp sensor in the gas hose to the injectors which is more likely to change fuel delivery. However its the fuel mapping that is important for determining open loop fuelling, as the petrol ECU will still be reading the oxy sensors and changing the injection times on closed loop. These times are read by the gas ECU and affect the gas times that way. The proper way to change fuelling is to have the software and cable or visit a local fitter/agent for tuning. PM me your area and I will ask the wholesaler who near you fits his kits.

I fitted the gas temp sensor on the convertor, but still have this mysterious 2 wire sensor?
The wire colours are the same as the ones that went to the sensor for the convertor.

As mentioned in the post below: there are TWO sensors.

Unless it happens to be the OTHER sensor that belongs in the gas hose to the injectors. The harness wires to the gas temp sensor are orange/black stripe and black instead of plain orange and black for the converter coolant sensor.

HMM, now it seems to becoming more complicated.
As not knowing what the previous mechanic did to it.

In the first 2 pics of the glue on the converter and the the wires that are red with glue, were absolutely jointed together at some time., they for some reason used some red wires that were soldered to the original black and orange wires.
So I just removed the stub of the broken fitting out of the converter , and screwed in the new senor you sent, and soldered those wires onto the previously wires that had the glue on them. ( that's after I cut back to the original wires.
Then I found the other orange and black wires, so thought these must plug into some where.

Just went out and checked the wires of the last picture are definitely plain orange and black wires. So if what you say is correct then some one had glued the GAS temp Wires to the Coolant Temp sender wires .
With all the crap in there I am still trying to find the gas hose that the sensor is supposed to fit into

All I have to do now is locate where the above pictured component lives and see if the wiring is still attached.

Good you got a wiring diagram! I have sent you a paper copy with the red things in a letter today. Just trace the hose from the gas outlet of the converter, through the t-piece and the filters to the injectors. The gas temp sender should be in one of the two hoses to the injectors. The brass bit should still be there with a hole to suit the sensor end. A drop of glue should hold it in.

Than ks all sorted now.
It seems the sensors of both the converter and gas temp sensors were the same coloured wires, meaning they were both plain Orange and plain black.
Once I stripped back the tubing covering the wiring I found that the colours changed further down. to the correct colours as per the install diagram.
After undoing the mess of cable tied components I found 2 large black canisters, ( must be the gas filters?) and after one of the said canisters was the brass T piece, the pic of the of the wires above post fitted straight in the hole. So I put a dab of RTV sensor safe on the end of the wires and pushed it in hard, So hopefully it will now stay there.
But it concerned me the original installer had fitted it to allow wiring to hang low enough for the wires to contact the exhaust manifold and melt in the first place.
