Like you can make any judgement from that!
Driver skills on that hill where tested, momentum helped too!
A lot of it also came down to tyres, Freelander went Ok but needed more assistance around obstacles.

The Freelander 2 is a great car, if only it had air suspension and low range it would be like a luxury defender!

They didnt air down the Puma's tyres. It didnt need it obviously, but if you want a whole lot more grip again, you can do that without rim damage or puncture worries and it the tyre then deforms and grips around obstacles like in that uphill climb.

Now at 1.33 into the vid - right there is a demonstration in how to shred a tyre and cut up the track badly (rangie). That, to my mind was just crazy stuff. Tyres spinning so fast that they make high pitch rubber shredding sounds. The D3 had more momentum that the rangie but was spinning tyres at a high rate and the little Lander...well sheer momentum got it up, but what a way to go (and how easily doing that trick elsewhere might cause serious damage to it).

Overall, mildly amusing, but not a helpful vid to potential buyers. If anything it gives an impression of the Freelander that it doesnt quite deserve - ie running with the big boys despite lack of low range (sure its got a lot more cred than an xtrail, but lets not get carried away Brit Boys).

Am I the only one who find the skinny brit's whiny voice annoying.

    Cheers

I have just lost nearly 10 minutes of my life that I cant get back...
I kept waiting for the bit where they tested the capabilities of the vehicles.

Exactly - I wanted to see some stopping and some getting through and some getting through (just) with damage...which would be the result of course if they got into decent territory.

    Cheers

From the "coaching" given by the guy on the outside, I'd say that some, if not all, the drivers are novices at offroading.

In a way, it just goes to show how the new vehicles can be comfortable yet have offroad ability. Definitely better than any BMW X vehicles, but I wonder how a Merc ML with the offroad package would fare under similar conditions.
