    Legal requirements 350-s3st1?

Ok I can get the 350chev engine easy enough; I can get the conversion kit easy as well. But what is a little harder to find is the legal requirements to fit it into my stage one legally. As disc brakes are out of the question, is it possible legally without too much hassle to pop one in over the weekend and get it approved in QLD? Or am I just dreaming! Anyone here done this for road use?

The (old) modification guidelines used to say a maximum 5L petrol or 4L diesel for a series 3 LWB.

You would need to contact an "approved officer" who can approve engine conversions and ask them what the rules are currently.

I have only just put all new brakes on it and they work fine. I don’t intend to go any faster but being able to overtake road trains a bit quicker is the goal. Plus all the cheap aftermarket goodies you can get for chev engines is making it very tempting, ever tried to find a supercharger manifold for a rover engine?! Putting disc brakes one a stage one front axle is a bit of a mess about is it not?

Shouldn't be, RRC for a std axle should go on, and if it a sals rear then Defender.

Just asked (last week) a local "approved officer" this question and he pulled out the relevant book and it stated max engine size for S3 was 4.4 lts (petrol). I did not ask the diesel Q. I did however ask the same question about the 2A and was told as long as it has the S3 brakes (at least), he was happy
