    Snorkel - cheap or inexpensive?

Land Rover Accessories & Spare Parts

Crikey, their 300Tdi Defender snorkels are very cheap. https://www.connectstores.com/lr/sp_36704.html

Just spoke to them on the phone, and they apparently get them made themselves, using the same design and plastic as the Safari. Can ship to Australia for $146 AUD!

I'm a bit wary of the plastic though, as I've seen cheap Safari copies from Asia, that apparently use sub-standard plastic.

EDIT: Probably the same seller as this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DEFENDER-SNOR...item25629d902b

    Must say, I'm very tempted!

    Mantec snorkel

Have you any comments on the Mantec "Plastic Jobbie"?
I have seen it on a 130 and looked like it was factory fitted not an add on piece of equipment.

Do you mind me asking how much you paid? I am looking at getting one shipped from the UK and would be interested to compare the price. Whatever happens it will be cheaper than buying one in Australia, even with shipping costs!!!!!!!

Interesting comments I've heard is that Safari have recently changed the construction and plastic used in the latest snorkels, making them not quite as nice as they used to be. I've got a 7 year old Safari on my Td5 and it's been faultless.

Has anyone seen the latest Safari's are they as good as they used to be?

I have been told there are some Chineese "Safari" snorkels around, possibly the ones being seen out there.

The Plastic Jobbie has been quote at $505 SGD, with present exchange rate this works out to $385 AUD landed in Perth.

They are out of stock at present with more arriving late April.

there was thread on here not long ago about fitting snorkels, (mantec)
and after a bit of research, and just wanting to go against the grain
i've decided mantec will be my choice, should have just had one fitted before i picked deefer up at dealers, but someone who was letting me buy vehicle said they didn't like snorkels ( wife), but who's going to argue when you have the ok to spend $60K...lol
