Stolen Craft & Equipment - Hillbrook Anglican School

Received by email on the 5th May 2011

Please see below message from Andrew Devenish of Hillbrook Anglican School regarding stolen craft and equipment. This occurred last weekend. Please feel free to contact Andrew if you come across any information or see the craft and equipment for sale etc.

    Hi All

A break-in over the weekend at my workplace (Hillbrook Anglican School) has netted the crooks quite a stash of boats and gear.

If you see any of these items for sale, or see them around, can you let me know so I can pass any info on to the police. Some of the gear lost is quite distinctive.

    • A lime green Wavesport Fuse kayak
    • A red Wavesport Diesel 70 kayak
    • 3 red Coleman canoes (Ramex 15 foot). These boats were number with black numbers on the bow and stern. We have lost number 4, 5 and 6.
    • 3 black neoprene spray decks (1 Nookie "shock and latex", 1 Solution "Slider", and 1 Solution)
    • 2 black Kayak Paddles (Originz "Nevis Bluff"). One of these has very distinctive yellow and red spray paint all over it.
    • 6 blue canoe paddles (Power-blade)
    • 1 black handheld ICOM VHF radio

This is the second break in of this type we have had – it seems like quite a professional job (locks and bolts cut, and any gear of little value left behind – I wish they had taken the Dancers…). I think this stuff will pop up for sale somewhere, sometime.

In September of last year we lost

    • A bright yellow Bliss-Stick Scud kayak
    • A bright yellow Perception Eco Behzig Double Sea Kayak

It is a long shot, but thought it wouldn't hurt to pass the word around.

Needless to say the boat shed is undergoing a second security upgrade – but if crooks have the right tools and enough time, security can be problematic.

    Kind regards

Hi, I have no money, but love surfing a Kayak--did this for quite a while till my fiberglass Canoe-Polo Kayak needed way too many repairs [it only cost $49 so I got my money's worth], and so my Kayak has been written off, so would now love to buy either,
A lime green Wavesport Fuse kayak
or A red Wavesport Diesel 70 kayak,
or if I could not get one of these, I may even settle for a bright yellow Bliss-Stick Scud kayak, but the other kayaks listed above would be be the preferable ones. Actually the Kayak that I would love to own is the Mega X-Ray surf Kayak, but beggars cant be choosers, and the above Kayaks would do.

and I would need a spray deck with it as mine is very old--a Black Neoprene spray deck will do me. Possibly could use the paddle also, as it is likely better than my old paddle.

So if I am offered one of these, are they marked so I do know they are stolen goods, or am I to offer the guy $100, about all I could afford to spend on one at the moment, and hope to get one cheap.

A Kayak that I could surf is what I have wanted for a while, as I have a crook knee, so exercise sitting down when possible--Lost about 7 kilos over 9 months of paddling 3-4 days per week previous to my heart attack. Stopped exercising for a fair while once my Kayak was out of service, then had my Heart attack. I prefer a Kayak in the surf rather than a surf ski--more control in a Kayak I do think, at least the way I paddle. Yes I can Eskimo roll most of the time, and have caught waves up to 8-10 footers.

Yes, if I see someone selling all these Kayaks I would be suspicious, and will take details, but If it was just one by itself, how would I know that it was stolen goods as there are a lot of these around??? These are common enough items.

I do hope the Anglican school does get them back--would have loved doing this sport when I was at school--hate cricket & football.
