    SDV6 HSE vs TDV6 HSE

    Hi all,

I've been lurking aound here since Christmas, vicariuosly living out my dreams of ownership of a D3 or D4 until i can actually afford one.

Anyway, on the weekend I noticed a beautifull looking white D4 in front of me at the traffic lights with SDV6 instead of TDV6.

At the risk of asking a really stupid question, what does it mean?

    Basically just a rebadge ,

    SDV6..... used to be 3.0 TDV6
    TDV6..... used to be 2.7 TDV6

    Cheers Ken

Oh, OK...I thought it looked different to what I had seen.

Any idea what the "S" stands for?

TD is turbo diesel, which is a single turbo.

SD is sequential diesel, which is a sequential twin turbo.

    Thanks for satisfying my curiosity.

I assume that it is only the later D4's that distinguish between the 2.7 and the 3.0 (hence the "it's basically a rebadge" comment) or has it always been that way and I've missed it?

Only the D4's have the 3.0 litre option as well as the 2.7 option or if your feeling like power is everythng then you can get the 5.0 litre V8 petrol option in the HSE.

    D3's came with either the 2.7 TDV6, a V6 petrol six or a 4.4 V8 petrol.

The petrol six was dropped for the D4.

    cheers,
    Terry

Yeah, I think it started with the MY11's and maybe late MY10

Thanks Roamer and everyone else for commenting.

Being such a keen lurker and general car nut, I am well aware of the D3 & D4 2.7 & 3.0 options. It was the badge's "S" designation that caught my eye as I hadn't seen it before.

So the early D4 3.0's were designated TDV6 just as the 2.7's were. Now, as well as the extra power, you also get the new S DV6 badge.

11MY only has the "S" designation.
This is only for the 3.0Ltr SE & HSE variant vehicles.
The base TDV6 is still going around nicely.

    Cheers
