				OMVL converter, I hope you mean. The mixer lives on the air intake, mixes gas and air, you see. The OMVL converter should deliver enough gas for a 4.6 at full noise. Your mixer may be too small through the bore for optimum power, although low end performance should be good.
 
Your problem sounds far more like a bad state of tune. You are probably suffering from Lucas ignition amplifier woes, bad spark plugs and leads, incorrect advance settings, lean mixture adjustment, and so on. Who does your tune ups? A 3.9 should go well on this type of system unless its totally stuffed. 
 
That Impco thing you pictured won't make it go faster, the bore size through it is smaller than a normal ring style mixer. And they close down at low RPM. Sounds like your system needs a darn good sorting.
