It's an 80" top extended to fit an 86"/88"
Bought this back from Brissy yesterday. Today I noticed the roof of the hardtop.
What does this tell you?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
It sure looks like a 80" hard top to me, shame is has been moddedBut yeah even hard tops for the later 86"/88" are so darn hard to find ive been looking for one for over 8 months now for my 86" still with no luck

Hi Didiman
Later 80" top, probably could be restored back to its original length.
Cheers Arthur
Thanks Diana, Lost Landy and Arthur. Thats what I thought. I have never seen one before and would like to convert it back. I need some good photos of the back edge where the roof panel folds over. Is it the same as an 86/88?
Are the catflap hinges and fixings the same also?
All the fittings are the same (and tailgate interchangeable) although there are a few differences with the spring loaded arms that hold the tailgate up. The early ones are hand fabricated while the later ones have some pressed parts.
The rear edge treatment is the same.
(BTW: I was going to swap my good condition 80" HT for a set of 6 split rims, but they were sold to someone else so now my top is no longer on the market.)

I have a 80" "truck cab" here if you need piccies of anything just "hoy out", I also have one off of a 86 etc (later) model so can take comparison pics..
was the tropical roof an option in the 80" (Im aware they only started in '53 and were "retrofitted" but can't recall seeing one..)
(PS -just a query dont have spare EARLY radiator support panel do you?)

I have a panel with the remains of a 49 dated radiator in it somwhere. Its probably pretty rough but. I will look later and take a pik.
I have a couple of 86/88 cabs but they have an angle reinforcing the verticle back corners. The 86/88 hardtop is a plain bend so I was thinking the 80 hardtop should be a plain bend too.
