    High Pitched Whine

Hi there, I've got a 2008 TD4 SE which has developed a loud high pitched whine at 55,000km over the past 2 days. It increases in pitch with an increase in speed and decreases accordingly also. It's drowning out the diesel engine noise. Booking it into the dealer ASAP but was wondering if anyone else had experienced a similar issue.

It could well be the rear diff but they gradually get noisy rather than come on suddenly. The rest of the driveline is pretty bullet proof though.

Does it vary with load (on / off throttle)?

My whine was diagnosed as a rear diff... turned out to be the OEM Wranglers were getting noisy as they wore.

Replaced with decent Michelins, whine gone & warranty booking cancelled.

Mine was about the same kms at the time, but on the other hand, it built up over 12 mths not 2 days.

    Regards
