transfer case rear seal leak & no oil splash catcher

I am wondering why I have no rear transfer case oil catcher. Is it common to remove this and not replace it?
I had a leaking rear seal and rather than draining out the of the oil drain, it coated the handbrake pads and drum.
Where would I find one, are they hard to come by?
I failed to notice this last time I did the rear seal and once again I have to deal with oil soaked pads. (I know fixing the leak should be my main concern, that is my next issue below)
Does anyone have a spare one?
I have had a good look at the output flange, there is a slightly pitted groove around the sealing surface and the P.O. has scratched the rest of the pinion surface with some thing, mild scratching, but enough to feel the marks with my fingers.
I suspect fine wet&dry paper would smooth it up, but would possibly continue to leak. How hard is it to find a good condition output flange?
I could use a shim/washer to space the flange off it's slightly pitted seal groove, but I will still be running on the mildly scratched/repaired surface.
I am sure this a common problem, do others space the output flange to use a fresh surface for the seal?

Regarding the spacing of the rear flange, I have the same issue with the diff input flange. Should I replace it with a good second hand one or space it to use fresh surface for the seal. (it is heavily grooved around the seal contact surface)
Any good spare diff input flanges out there?

You could consider a speedi-sleeve to cover that groove and provide a seal. Would be the way to go if you can't find an output flange in good condition.

I was a bit confused with my output assembly. It appeared to have a mud 'guard' but not an oil slinger. I will see if I can find the two pictures I looked at that showed some sort of difference.
