    yellow relays

    Hi All
I have a 96 defender 110 wagon and would like to know what the 2 yellow relays are for in the fuse box in the passengers compartment.
    Regards

Hi Fender Bender, if you have safety air bags fitted, then those Yellow Relays are for that and should not be played with.

If you DON'T have safety air bags fitted, ignore above.

Ive got a '92 110 that certainly does not have safety airbags which also has these relays.

Back in the days when i had a dodgy battery that I ran flat i remember those relays clicking like no tomorrow when the engine was trying to start. Check the haynes manual.

    air bags, In a fender?

from memory ones a VSR and not a relay it shuts down optional high current draw gear when the battery is not recieving charging voltage., a great bit of kit for home brewing a DBS.

Sorry for the bum steer Fender Bender.

When I installed car alarms, when we came across Yellow Relays, Yellow Split Tube, Yellow canisters and so on, we avoided it like it was the plague.

In a number of vehicle makes, yellow is used to mark anything associated with the Safety Air Bag system.

Well the defender has not got air bags or a car alarm. One could be air conditioner and the other i think is starting relay. I just thought someone here may know for sure. Don't have a hayne manual but have a rave disk and checked that and i can't find anywhere it tells you about these relay', also check the defender manual on aulro and no where is a mention of these relays only in the wiring diagram but not where they are located.

Stick yer finger on the relay and operate the circuit you think is connected to it. Does it click? Pull out the relay and see if the circuit still works. Simple!

Relays aren't detailed on inside of fuse covers mate just the fuses.

    RAVE would probably be helpful.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
