    A Glimpse of the Future

Do you enjoy motorcycle racing or do you like watching people sort out problems with cutting edge technology? If so, you might enjoy this video clip.

Like a lot of people who are doing something innovative, the guys involved with the electric bikes are keen to talk to anyone who shows even a passing interest in what they are doing. When you are doing something as new as this there are always going to be teething problems.

For those of you who think these electric bikes are not much more than two wheeled pensioner mobility transport, have a look at the results and the lap times on this site.

They are only ten or twenty seconds slower than the bikes at the back of the field in most other classes and I believe one of the electric bikes has been clocked at well over 180 km/h

Do you prefer last century's technology? In that case, you might prefer this.

    or this

If you answered "yes" to either question, then you should have been at Eastern Creek on the first weekend of July for Round 3 of the FX Superbike Championship.

For those of you who don't like either of those things, there was a bit of this sort of thing too.

Warning: The video clip contains images of TerryO at about the 11 minute mark and if you know where Turn 4 is at Eastern Creek, you can catch a glimpse of me as well.

For anyone who still thinks the electric bikes are toys, this is what they look like.

Here is a shot of one of them in action, ridden by well known Australian female racer, Amy O’Mara because the owner had injured his shoulder in an earlier race.

Notice there is no chain or shaft going to the back wheel. That is because it has a hub motor.
