    There is some debate and confusion but it seems most likely that the name Puma comes from the Ford Durotorq engine, the first design of which was codenamed Puma. There is now a range of Ford diesel engines based on this original Puma design (now called ZSD) in sizes 2.0, 2.2 and 2.4 L.
