Yes - is a well publicised recall - I had mine done last year.

I experienced this fault and had a number of heart stopping moments of a rock solid brake pedal. I reported this issue to the dealer who fixed the fault promptly but LRA rejected the claim as I was out of the warranty period so I had to pay for the repairs ($1200) which included a new booster plus a few other parts. After a few days of chasing LRA I was told the claim would be accepted but then needed to wait for LRA to pay my dealer which would take 6-8 weeks . I got a cheque from my dealer after 10 weeks.

The silliest part about the whole episode was that LRA sent me the safety recall notice the day after I had my claim accepted by LRA . I don't think it was a coincidence but a matter of timing. I should have waited a week for the repairs and I would never had to talk to LRA and be out of pocket for 10 weeks.

I should point out the dealer was most supportive of my claim and very helpful.

    Question

I've just bought one second hand. Would my LR dealer be able to tell me if my particular vehicle has been rectified?

    Regards

Yes - they will need your VIN.

Also if you register on the Topix site and put in your VIN it will tell you if there is anything outstanding.

Thanks Garry, very much appreciated. I went to the Topix site and one of the conditions is

The following conditions must be met:
You are an independent automotive-related service or repair business

Would it matter that I don't come into the category?

    Regards

    Mike
