    110 Sill Tanks

    Hey Guys,

I'm looking to load up the area under my sills with fuel tanks. Any suggestions as to tank manufacturers?

Take a run down and see Daniel at Mulgo’s. He has some. He’s a really nice bloke, very knowledgeable and helpful. It worth the effort and he’s in your neck on the woods too.

I have a pair of FrontRunner tanks fitted (imported by Dolium in WA) and available from a range of places including Mulgo. My vehicle is a D90, but there should be no reason why they wouldn't fit in a 110. I am sure Daniel (Mulgo) could advise you.

    Cheers

My '95 defender came with LRA sill tanks when I got it many years ago. One side water, the other side diesel.

long range auxiliary & replacement fuel & water tanks for 4WDs | Designed & manufactured in Australia by LONGRANGE AUTOMOTIVE since 1989

Haven't had any problems except splashback filling the diesel tank (now rectified by changing the filler neck design) and a few dints where I've grounded the tanks.

I've got sill (belly) tanks. I agree go to Mulgo. Problem I currently have is filling them fully from one fill point.

I' going to modify to have seperate fill points for each tank (total 3).

Sorry to hijack the thread but did you modify the filler or have LRA since modified the design?

I had some new LRA tanks put on the 110 about 3 months ago. Excellent, robust kit but the diesel filler is crap - suffers badly from splashback if you try to fill it quickly (and I dont mean from the hi-flow poumps). Strikes me the angle of the filler is too flat and the breather pipe diameter is too small.

    Jon,

My tanks were fitted over 15 years ago by the previous owner, the only issue was you couldn't fill the diesel tank to the top. I've got a replacement filler neck (I obtained a few years ago) but haven't fitted, this should let me fill to the top without dramas. I actually went to them to source a replacement fuel cap (Fiamma on the old ones) and they had changed design of the whole filler neck. From memory the breather pipe had increased in diameter as well as switching to a conventional cap rather than the Fiamma one
If yours were fitted a few months ago they should use the the latest design so not sure why you have problems.
    Worthwhile giving them a call.

    Thanks COlin.

Did that last week... Not so 'unexpected response'... "Weve been fitting them for 15 years plus and never had any complaints". To which I replied that that doesnt mean there perfect!!!

Dont get me wrong, I didnt ring up to complain, actually I wanted a new filler cap also and whilst I was on to them, thought Id express my observations.

Apart from filler on Aux tank, 140L replacement and 60L Aux tanks are excellent quality and I would recommend them.
    Regards,
    Jon

I have a Brown Davis (I think) 80L sill tank. Bought it 2nd hand with a dint in the bottom that had blocked the pickup (which the seller kindly forgot to mention).

It also only holds 65L because of the dint...

Otherwise I am happy. The filler is in the panel between the rear door and the flare (just forward of the wheel). It was fairly easy to fit and the filler works well if you fill it slowly enough.

    Hi Jon,
I had the lra sill tanks fitted before the CSRtrip too -Have found need to fill slowly but still get some splash back occasionally. Also had difficulty removing the diesel cap need to get quite rough with it.Seems to be a vacuum lock type of problem therefore suggests breather system restriction
By the way where did you get to last time I saw you was at Laverton?
