My mate just done his, sadly had to do it twice as his 1st full rebuild had a brand new injector drop its end in the motor and rooted the piston and head.
So he had to rebuild again.
Depending on parts if all new, new head and injectors and pistons and honing and balancing and with new clutch etc etc, I recall him saying $6k just for parts and some machining and balancing.
Most parts were sourced from UK, Paddock spares comes to mind and I be happy to pm you his details for a chat.
He is on this site but rarely joins in due to too much political unrest amongst certain folk.
Anyhow, if you are handy with a spanner, can be cheap.
He is also running D-gas and is averaging 9L/100 even towing a camper.
Oh, btw, its in a RRC as he done a conversion as well.

Dunno what the difference in price between a 200TDi and 300 TDi might be but I can't imagine it being much. I just bought a fully reconditioned 200TDi for $5,200 all up including a few extras.
