I have now been told by ARB Artarmon that they are not able to fix the issues. Kaymar tell me that I have to take the car to Melbourne for them to look at it.
Does anyone know of a mechanic that can do the job properly?

I recently had a Kaymar rear bar, wheel and jerry can carrier fitted to my Disco 4 TDV6. It took the mob doing the job three weeks to do it and the rear sensors are still not working properly. Is this a common issue?

Glyn

Hi Glyn,
Glad to see you made it on here!
Maybe next time we catch up it won't be as dark & I can take a better look or put a pic up here for you.

Glyn, this is an e-mail I sent to Kaymar about my concerns why there are problems with the sensors.
Hi, I’m contemplating fitting a rear bar to my Discovery 4, but I’m worried about the stories I’m hearing about the problems people are having with the parking sensors after having the bar fitted, is there a problem and if so, what is the problem and can it be fixed??
Hope to hear from you soon,
Barry.
This is their reply;
Hi Barry
We have an aluminium shield supplied with our carrier to deflect the sensor.
The sensors can and do move with their housing and this can cause problems with them going off.
All the product we have fitted here at our factory – we have had no problems with the sensors going off.
As always fitting is our biggest problem – mis interpreting the instructions (we have as many photos as possible to assist) and those that don’t read the instructions at all.
Often it is not even a mm that makes all the difference.
Feedback from our customer to let us know of any problems is another problem as you mention talk over forum etc that we have a problem with the sensors but we have only had a few with issues contact us and most have not fitted the shield and once this is fitted we have not heard anymore and can only assume all is fine.

Hi Glyn, Yep The problem you are having with the rear sensors are about as common as they come, unfortnatley. I had the same set up fitted to the D3 and the OL guys said they had fitted heaps of them and the rear parking sensors weren't a problem, however, after having the vehicle for 3 days they had to concede that they weren't able to get it working properly. Turns out it matters little as the aluminium guard on mine, which was primarily the problem, just broke off. Seems Kaymar for all their research didn't test that guard over a few thousand K's of corrugated roads LOL. My end solution was to disable the rear sensors.
good luck
Turning the sensors hasn't worked??
My two centre sensors pick up my tow bar and I have them blocked until I can turn them. The problem is the center sensors have a range of about 6 feet and the outers about half that and I have nearly backed into a couple of things slipping between the two remaining sensors so am now very cautious when backing.

I have LED Trailer box fitted to the D4 I just leave it switched on and it disables the parking sensors.
Isn't it funny and sad as well how techology dumbs us all down eventually.
Here we all are (me to) concerned about losing our reversing sensors when we add a rear bar and yet 15 years ago we would have laughed at anyone that said they needed them to reverse any vehicle safely. If I think back then 'blokes only got reversing sensors so the missus stopped hittng things'.
I know I didn't have any on my old 60 series and never even considered I needed them. Now I would miss them on both the D2a and the D3.
I'm even gettting fond of the front parking sensors on the D3.
cheers,
Terry

I just use camera in close spots now. Even with the old Territory the camera was more use than the sensors.
I have 2 Mini's as well one has parking sensors the other doesn't a car the size of a Mini doesn't need them. Oh the one with them was a demo car so it came with them. The one I ordered new I didn't bother.
I think I might dis-able mine, seems all to hard for these mobs to fix, bet they would fix the bloody things if they had Toyota onwers complaining about it
I suppose at least we know now (according to NomadicD3)that the alloy guard works

Cheers Baz.
