    Puma software updates

    All,

Do you know if software updates should be done at services if a new one is available or if only there is an issue.

Seemingly my 2010 defender is running 7H12-12K532-FCB and the latest is 7H12-12K532-FCE.

It has just been serviced so not sure why it is on the older one.

Do any off you know what you are running? Reason I ask is I am constantly having issues with the flat spots around 2500 revs and LR can't find a problem, just wondering why they would not have done the update if it is available.

    cheers
    Pat

I have an ATRIC from alive tuning (same as a BAS I think). I am not running on a remap at the moment as I have had ongoing issues, but when I sent Gary from alive the original map that is when I found out my software was old. But the device allows you to see what the current version is, so I checked it again when it came out from the dealers and still running the old one. Maybe we don't get the same updates they do in the UK.

my first engine didn't have the flat spot. New engine does and I was told that it's a 'characteristic' of the engine!

Does it? I have the BAS device, will check it when I get my landy back from the LR.

It is under the ECU info tab, second line down:

This is an old pic as the software version should be FDE . As to the updates I am loathe for them to be installed as the landy is running sweet with version FDB and I ask the dealers not to update the ECU. Also remember that the ECU can only be upgraded a certain amount of times before it needs replacing/reflashing back to zero count, I believe it is around the 12 or 14 mark? This count is not affected by using a remap interface as this only alters the fuelling file and nothing else. The dealer then doesn't know if you have had a remapped file on as the count will still be the same as when it was recorded at the last software update.

    Thumbs down

Yep, I'd be a little wary re updates myself.

My Puma was 'upgraded' prior to a recent 13k trip to WA. Was getting high 16s (ocasional 17) to the 100 towing 1.2 tonne. Worst economy I've ever seen...

New (not sure which one) program at next service (as part of the trip on the way home), economy returns to 12.4

That first service cost me over $500 in additional diesel and sooted up the egr...
