Importing tubeless rims for 130 (ANR4583)

Howdy - I'm looking to change over to tubeless rims for my 130.

Anyone had any experience with importing rims from the UK?

Could you please share good companies to deal with.

Anything I should be looking out for?

Thanks in advance, but I'm not looking to go into the whole 'why don't you just run tubeless on the existing rim' thing, or the disco rim thing.

Ask 'popemobile' on here. He bought some from pommyland. They seemed pretty ok quality but he found that they had too much runout. This was on a near 37in tyre mind you. So might be good for 235 or 255s.

Why not buy rims locally?

Cause I'm tight and I want to save some $ if I can.

You will pay approx 260 pounds to ship 4 wheels from the UK.

Oh - TR Spares have a set of Wolf Rims but no price listed.

I think your shipping estimate might be a bit low. I've in the last few days shopped around for airfreight quotes and the best I got was $90.00/10kg for parcels over 50kg and under 100kg with DHL.

A wolf rim can't weight less than 14kg each which would place airfreight around $500 for 4. Obviously surface freight could potentially be lower, but it's not guaranteed as you pay by size of package, and then there's the wait.

I'm by no means an expert on parcel delivery services, but this has been from actual writen quotations. At that rate you'll have to get them for dirt cheap in the UK to still come out under the prices offered locally by the likes of Les Richmond.

Or you could get one of the local wheel works to cut the centres out of the rims you have and weld on either 6.5" or 7" rims in your choice of offset.

Wouldn't mind thinking it'd be cheaper than buying new ones from the UK ?

Or you could do what some do and just run tubeless tyres tubeless on the tube type HD 130 rims.

Not that anyone would or should advocate that.......we've had the bloody war over that one, and it was brutal.

My figure is current - I have four 16x8 steel wheels being made in the UK at the moment and the courier figure is exactly £265.00 (on todays exchange rate $440 so not much short of your $500).

Being shipped by the wheel company so i do not know who exactly will be couriering them. Looked at sea freight but when all the clearance processes and Aust shipping is taken into account works out about the same - courier is door to door an no issues (I hope)

The way to go is what rick130 said, If you want the original look Get the centeres knocked out of a set of standard wheels & have new tubeless rims welded on. Easy done !!
