    What's in a name?

    Distinguished Colleagues,

Tonight I experimented some with my state of tune in Matilda, and advanced the distributor (using the octane selector) by approximately 1/3 of its travel between fully retarded to more advanced...result? She's going like a German band....

Well this got me thinking - what is with getting 2 different answers/results/outcomes on 2 different days - when I did more or less the same thing?

And then it came to me - perhaps this is why we give our beloved vehicles female names!

    Lucky

A mate asked me if Lucky was a boy, and I suppose he is.
More so his name represents his history, my feeling of finding a Series 1, and to have an uncle in-law who is responsible for his restoration in such a caring and detail way.
Anyway, you how catty girls can get.

Some artistic license, my friend, after the exhilaration of driving a sweetly tuned example of possibly the finest moment of British automotive genius in the last 60 years - the Series 1.

    Just glowing in the experience!

    Contrary ID's

    Hi All

Years ago, I was in charge of the farms dairy and I never named our cows, they all had numbers.

"What's in a name" you ask? For me, in naming my S2a, it started as pride but it's turned out to be wishful thinking - "DeeDee" for "Daily Driver", but it's been parked in the shed with the gearbox in many pieces waiting for me to get around to replacing the main shaft. I'll be a little more careful in naming the 80" S1

    ''Whats in a name''

Well being an 80'' he is rough around the edges, plain basic, slightly prehistoric and it was the first noise he made when we pushed him onto the trailer ''klonk''

    Cheers Steve
