Freelander mechanical quotes
I have a Freelander diesel and don’t quite know what to do.
It is beautiful to drive and very fuel efficient……..but it now maybe more economic to scrap than to repair.
The main issue is the clutch and either the IRD Or the Viscous coupling unit (or both the IRD and VCU).
Can you recommend anyone who can drive and diagnose the problem.
I am happy to pay for the testing +/- repairs if I go ahead.
It is a 1999 manual. I normally have 4x4 spares in Kotora do my work (very good service) but I dont think the car would drive that far and vibrates at high speed
Thnx

Disconnect the rear driveshaft and see how it drives. If Ok then take it to Kotara.

Thanks Phillip, just had a look at the manual and that looks relatively straight forward, just need to support the shaft and lower as a complete unit.
How long can I leave this disconnected and drive around?

Still have the IRD checked. as all the internals still move, even with the tail shaft removed.

The tail shaft is out....and it is heavier than it looks!
The car is so quiet.
Thanks everyone, now to get the clutch work done......
