Finally starting work on the rapier maintenance trailer with first stop being brakes & suspension. Master cylinder is deceased but wheel cylinders look OK externally and still exploring.

If someone could educate me as to what this "expansion valve assembly" is all about it would be very much appreciated. I am sure it is not unique to this trailer.
