    Credit given when credit due

I'd like to raise a glass to 4wd Action and Overlander mags for hearing the plights of many LR owners that LR's do not get a fair showing in their publications. This month (Issue 172) 4wd action has a feature on Bruce Davis' brazilian engined 110 and 2 travel stories by owners of a 110 and 130.

Overlander this issue has a feature on a delightful 110, a random pic of a 90 on page 62, a rangie sport in a towing review (odd marriage since most RRS live in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney) and a 110 in a towing technique article.

Some months back a post was launched whining about access to photos from a Overlander shoot and that spurred a round of abuse from LR owners about 4wd action and other mags that don't cater to the LR market. Not trying to kick the bee hive (which it will inevitably do) it's up to LR owners to put forward their vehicles in these and other 4wd mags. To write and submit trip stories. No one should be entitled idly stand by in the corner and then have the audacity to complain that they were not noticed in a crowd. The onus rests on us, the LR community, to promote our vehicles and the LR marque.

My 2 bobs worth in a declining currency market.

    cheers MLD

    pssst...Defender 130

Many millions of years ago the editor of Overlander commented to my Dad that the highest selling editions of the mag were the ones with a Land Rover on the cover.
    Those days may yet return

Overlander's article on the Evoque last month was a joke. So obviously written or edited by LR with the continual references to the Evoque as a Range Rover and even some attempts at comparing the two models.

The Evoque is a Range Rover. Had a look at one at the LROCS meeting on Tuesday night. Says it right there on the front. Says it right there on the back. Says it on the dash. Says it on the steering wheel. Range Rover.

Sorry for being such a cynic. I guess a Prado must be a Land Cruiser then

Ah, right, cynicism. I didn't read between the lines

But you are right, the Prado and Evoque probably have similar off road ability whilst the Rangie is far superior to the full fat land cruiser...the distance between is greater...ha

    Back to the mags...

Well applying that logic, one must inform all owners of RRS that they are NOT driving a Range Rover

But rather just a sleek Discovery

Its badged "Range" its marketed "Range" - why fail to accept it as such?

Or are Discovery drivers really driving a down market RRS -
