    Heater cores

Need to replace mine and find out that there are aftermarket copper/bass ones as well as the OE style aluminium core/plastic tank versions.

(top tank split at full noise/load just as I crested the range here a few days ago and dumped all the coolant )

Any thoughts either way and brands to avoid ?

    Rick,

I would go for the OE plastic / ally ones, ALL the copper Brass ones I have seen don't fit easily into the Defender heater box, 1 I had to use a die grinder/ dremel to make it fit neatly

    Thanks JC.

Luckily it happened at the end of the working day and so far the head gasket has hung in there.
It only needs to survive until Christmas/New Year so I can do a precautionary change at the same time as the timing belt. (and another bloody P gasket )

sounds like you really need to change out that tdi for a nice rebuilt Isuzu T and Isuzu 6 speed, with the LT230 devorced and further back....throw in a full width rad and intercooler a RuffStuff rover front housing, sixty9 rear housing with some 9100's and youll be good to go
