    Door Adjustment

    Hi All,

This is my first post having been a regular lurker since purchasing my 2010 Puma 110 late last year and by the way I have had no problems with her and love driving her daily.

I'm currently setting our Puma up for a 12 week trip to the Kimberleys in 2013 with some shorter adventures in the short term.(I will post some photos eventually)

I have just fitted sill protector plates and finding that the front doors catch the checker plate, Is there any way to adjust the level of the doors? I have had the internal door skins off and can't really see any way of adjusting the alignement.

    Thanks in advance

    Steve

    Door Adjustment

    Tombie,

The sill plates fit over the existing sills, I have adjusted as much as I can i.e. used a rubber mallet and timber to ensure the sill plates are as square and true to shape as possible,I have also tried loosening the bolts to the existing sills to lower them.

The front door is approx 2-3mm lower then the rear door when aligning them at the main pillar and hence my question realigning the front doors. I ahve attached photos.

    Righto....

    Steve

Undo the outer hinge (where it bolts to the body) and adjust the door there.

You will need to adjust the lock striker as well....

    Steve,

You need to loosen the upper and lower hinges on the body side. The nuts aren't captive (from memory) but you just undo the Torx bolts slightly. It's easiest with two people, one holding the door. I had the same issue fitting the sill checker plate as every door was aligned differently - what can I say it's a Defender Just be careful if you have roof rack with clamps above the doors as then you have less upward movement. From memory it too about an hour before we were happy with the door alignment, then we had to realign the striker plates for the door locks

    Have fun!

    door Aadjustment

    Dmdigital/Tombie,

Thanks, I have adjusted the doors all good

I marked and moved the door strike up 1st to where I thought the door should be, loosened the hinges off, closed the door onto a plastic wedge and retightened door hinges. Probably took about 20min a door.

Nice one, I have the same issue but at the opposite end, my left hand rear passenger door rubs on my newly fitted roof rack, off to the toolbox I go..

    Cheers..

While we are on the topic of doors.

The passenger door on my MY11 90 is hard to close, I have had a look at it and it contacting at the top before the bottom. Does anyone know of an adjustment? It is going into the dealers for it's 10K service in a couple of weeks so I will get them to have a look but if it is something I can have a crack at I will.

    Cheers,
    Simon.

With only 10k on it I would get the dealer to do it, it was not difficult, I just did mine this afternoon and fixed the door height, but then as mentioned had to fix the striker, this would probably be the bit you need to do and it was a pain to get right, also not sure about anyone elses but I have coloured lines across all my internal bolt heads so it is obvious I have now adjusted it, even though I got it back to as close as it was not sure if LR are going to have a winge I adjusted my door striker but who knows..
