Hi LeHoyne
Welcome aboard to the forum.
When you get the chance, buy yourself a cheap multimeter from somewhere like a DickSmith or Jaycar store .
There are some booklets on how to use multimeters available from those same stores, armed with all that, you should lean a little about electrics and this knowledge is power. ( pun is intended )
find out how to;
measure potential across two points, this shows a open circuit.
measure current, this shows a closed circuit.
resistance, with less resistance the more current flows through a circuit.
learn the applications of Ohms law. ( E = I x R ), ( I = E / R ), ( R = E / I ).
The basic power equation is a easy one also. ( W = E x I )
E is voltage
I is current
R is resistance
W is power
Handy knowledge to have if you or someone that you meet, are having electrical problems when well away from help.
