Fitting he 110L Opposite lock Tank

Just recently fitted a so called 110L Opposite lock Long range tank to the D3 TDV6
To get it to go in I had to take/cut the forward drivers side leg off the the spare wheel mount plate . The plate is like a big X ,I had to cut the top drivers side off to get the tank to go up into position . Im just wondering is this normal and is the difference between the 90l and the 110L as far as fitting is concerned .

Fitting the 110 litre O/L tank to D3

Hello, I'm Peter Williams - National Stores Liaison Director for Opposite Lock-Holdings.
I think I can help you with your query.
(I've been messing with Land Rovers continuously since 1971)
The O/L tanks are manufactured by Outback Accessories Australia, for distribution around Australia.
When first released, the D3 tank was 114 litres capacity, but late in 2007 (for MY2008) Land Rover changed the design of the chassis cross member which supports the spare wheel hoist.
As a result the tank was modified and reduced in size to accomodate the factory change. Later in 2007 another small alteration in design was made to facilitate manufacturing.
With the advent of the D4 the tank remained unchanged, but the flow-through transfer pipe kit differs slightly because of a slight change in the rear diff housing shape.
I presently drive a D3 and have done about 150,000K with one of these tanks fitted. It is very easy to live with, and allows an easy Ceduna to Norseman Nullarbor run without fuel stops - even when towing.
I hope you enjoy long distance touring with your D3 and tank. Best wishes, Peter.

But does that mean he needs/should have cut the leg off?

Its a secret ,till we can get the right size main muffler .
So its the standard pipe int0 a 3 inch offset type muffler, then into a single 3 inch with the center more or less Squashed into a oval shape roughly 1.5 inches by 6.25 wide.the 3 inch back up to 3 inch rezzy. So there will be no RH pipe whatsoever.
One 3 inch pipe will have 7 inches of area , twin 1.5's will have 1.767 each ,so one 3 inch has almost double the flow of two,two inch pipes.
For real offroad stuff am fitting a dump pipe straight off the main muffler ,so no pipes whatso ever beyond the main muffler .
