~2.5L last I changed mine.
Sorry guys, I have searched and searched but not getting any hits - so I must not be using the correct search wording. I am sure I have asked the question before.
Just after the oil capacity for the Salisbury rear diff - 1998 Defender 130.
Thanks
Andrew

~2.5L last I changed mine.
Off the top of my head 2.3 litres.
The capacity in the service manual is incorrect, as it lists the capacity of the Rover rear end in the 90.
[edit] and if you are running oil lubed bearings, it wouldn't hurt IMO to have the axle tilted so you can overfill the diff. I have a cast cover with a high filler hole these days and put at least 3l in it, but I always used to overfill it when running the pressed tin cover too.
The actual factory spec in my owners handbook is 2.26 litres for the Salisbury
But I also tilt the diff to allow adding more to help with wheel bearing lubrication
