Dual battery and Rear Drawer setup for Defender

Hey all i have a dual battery setup already in the Landy but travelling round Oz atm i use it to run my engel alot when parked up but i don't have any sort of a gauge to monitor how much juice it has left, has anyone know of a good one to chuck in it ? also i'm going to fit a fridge slide and draws in the back of the 99 Defender does anyone also know of a good setup or place to buy ? Theres so many different ones on the net n i've heard some are pretty ****. Cheers .

G'day Jed.I,ve used an Engel slide for over 10 yrs in my Deefer.I've done around the Aussie thing in that time ,Simpson desert ,the Gulf ,Cape Yorke and many other off road treks,Ican't fault the slide.My 40 ltr Engel sits in its insulating cover and the slide has a heavy density foam between it and the fridge.The foam has a harden skin ,approx 1/2 inch total thickness.I fitted a piranha indicator which monitors both batteries.I hope this is of some help ,and the best for the trip.Cheers Lochie

Hi Jed,
Engel do a battery monitor inline system. They also do a 12 volt socket which has a small inbuilt battery monitor which might also be worth looking at.

What dual battery system are you running? The IBS system has an audible warning when battery voltage drops.

Might be worth considering that feature whichever battery monitoring system you go for.

cheers guys , yeah i'm unsure of the system that was fitted , it has a override button on the dash in case i drain the crank battery and can start off the other. When i bought the Defender 18months ago the Old bloke who owned it used the original crank battery as his dual battery ( 11 yrs old ) so i replaced it with a 120 ah AGM. But the original is still goin in my boat ! Did you fit the Memory foam as a after Mod ? Thanks again .

I have a TANAMI drawer system and an MSA/Platinum drop slide in the rear of my Defender. I,m very happy with the drawers, they are built well and haven't let me down and have heaps of room. The drop slide is fantastic. It makes getting to the fridge much easier as it drops it to a workable height. The fridge sits very high if you fit drawers.

My next acquisition are drawers for the back of my Puma. Has anyone had any experience with the Drifta setup? Much lower price than the others.

The Drifta is a top unit - I have one in the back of my Puma. The built-in table is also a great feature and comes in handy whether pulled out and erected or pull-out as a quick table when on the run. The drawer works on nylon runners - so reduces the need for a hinge system. The two side compartments also maximise the space around the wheel arches - a big thumbs up!
