Fitting old bullbar to new Puma

Im thinking about removing my bullbar from my 1997 defender to put on a new Puma due to be delivered next month.

Is the chassis demension the same where the bar attaches
The main chassis rails are 635 inside to inside and 788mm on the outsides.

Unlikely it will fit as all Puma Defenders have the extended grille for A/C condenser. Your early one will have the flush fit type, even with A/C. IIRC the chassis is identical, I fitted an early model A/C compatible ARB winch bar to a Puma last year as I didn't like the 'new' closewr to the body ARB design, so I ordered an early model A/C one as they are the same as 110 County through to now. Basically My 1985 110 with A/C extended grille takes the same ARB bar as the new Puma with A/C.

The bar isn't an ARB. Its the "Mac Truck cow catcher style". The manufacturers label has peeled off. It does stand off the grille about 80mm at the bottom and tilts away
Im thinking the best bet is to wait until ive got my new Puma and see if it will work. Would have been nice to get it blasted and refinished for the new rig, while ive got some time.

I did as you intend. Had the local welder extend the mount of the bar. No problem. Cheers
