			Fitting a VNT turbo

My new VNT from BAS arrived this week and I will be fitting it to my td5 Defender on the weekend.

Any tips on things I may run into during the fitting would be much appreciated.

I haven't fitted a turbo before but it is supposed to be a straight bolt in replacement so hopefully no surprises.

 Cheers,
 Paul.

Just read the instructions. It should tell you the important things like prime the turbo with oil so it won't run dry on start up, double check all the pipes and hoses, you should fit a new air filter whilst your in there as well. Hopefully the kit included new washers for the oil feed and gaskets. They are pretty straight forward though. Have fun and post the results, have you got a remap to get the most out of it.

Oil Feed line requires undoing of the oil cooler - good idea to have a new gasket handy...

If you have any worries.. post again...

I need to know how to turn the engine over without it starting (td5) so I can get oil running through the new turbo.

I thought of disconnecting the loom from the injector harness at the engine?
Or is there a 'correct' way to do this?

Pretty important to get this right so any help appreciated.

 Cheers,
 Paul.

Just pull the fuel pump fuse...

When I fitted mine, I just poured oil into the turbo and then bolted it up...

The units drain down overnight anyhow, and get feed pressure very quickly on start up.

Either way - I wouldnt stress
