Four and a half thousand revs in 4th gear will give you about 120 kmh....but thats a lot of noise.
Cheers, Mick.
Just out of curiosity as mine still won't be on the road for a while, what would be the top speed of a 186 Holden motor in a 1974 Series III with 4 speed box? I was just curious to wether it could get to 110km/h on the Highway? Also the head was replaced not too long ago (maybe around 10000km's?? Not too sure)

At 110 Klm/Hr you getting close to the top speed of a Holden powered Land Rover, which is directly proportional to the thickness of the ear protection you are wearing.
At 110 Klm/Hr you are getting close to be selected for the next James Bond movie, to be used as an extra to lay smoke screens!
At 110 Klm/Hr you need to be following a semi to pull up, the semi has a slightly longer braking distance.
At 110 Klm/Hr you need to wear a freezer suit, to keep the heat out.
At 110 Klm/Hr you need to watch very carefully for speed camera's, in 100 Klm zones!
At 110 Klm/Hr , how do I know all this?

Hi there
It can be sumed up in an easy phrase:
........With ear muffs on your gearbox & axels are your limits......
My views
Meh, u all make jokes about the distance it takes to stop..... Unfortunately it's all true
My ol s3 had 202 red, with overdrive, 30 x 10.5's, 3.55 diff, and top speed I got was 140klm/hr... And a whole heap of grey hairs too
My current s3 wagon with red 202, 4spd no overdrive, same tyres, same diff I got the other day 120klm/hr.... And I think I would of lasted maybe 5 mins, not sure whether I would of run out of fuel first or if the engine would of overheated....
