d2 front output flange on a puma?

    Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has done this, i swapped the front output flange out, all went fairly well, i used the d2 flange, kept the puma seal as the collar were the seal runs on the flange was about the same(.01 - .02mm difference), my puma flange had no felt washer but a lot of what i think was locktite on the the spline. I reused the flat washer from the puma flange and used the felt washer that came in the kit. no problems then after about 300km of driving it developed a leak, checking it is looked like it was coming from around the seal not up the spline. I think it may have been caused by some left over locktite from the spines damaging the seal, so i went to change it with the one that came with the d2 flange - big mistake, the new flange has a smaller OD! so now i am stuck with no front oil seal, hopefully i can source one tomorrow morning somewhere.

Has anyone done this swap without issues? did you use a standard puma output seal?

he probably went to the DC front shaft which needs a larger bolt pattern. It(the flange) is a direct swap Item.

My D/C shaft (Bailey Morris) was a direct bolt up to the PUMA. I thought it was just the D2 D/C shafts that needed the different flange.

Not a fan of the smaller DC units my self (as I call it the toyota sized Drive Cheese unit) the centering pin and bearing is smaller than the Disco 2 unit.

Dave, you can get large DC's (1310 size uni's) that fit the small flange, Tom Woods is one that can do this so you don't need to swap to the DII flange.

Cal415 is going even bigger than the TW 1310 DC by using a 1350 size uni DC.

Yes, rick has it right, went to the big flange for the 1350 DC, could be possible with the smaller flange, but was suggested that i go with the bigger one as it might be a hassle to get the nuts in place otherwise. Picked up a new seal today, will see how it goes....
